Orlu, Imo State. Orlu United Medical Center recently conducted a free medical outreach in Orlu providing no-cost consultations, screenings, laboratory tests, medications, eye assessments, and selected surgical care. Our team, led by Prof. Dr. Obioha Kingsley Chukwu Episteme (Consultant Obstetrician/Gynaecologist & Public Health Physician, UNTH Enugu), provided a range of services including vital signs assessment, laboratory investigations, eye examinations, consultations, medications, and selected surgical interventions. Patients moved through registration, screening, investigations, and consultation stations in a structured flow designed for clarity and continuity of care.
The turnout was steady from early morning. Residents arrived with differing concerns, and many with no prior diagnosis at all. They were guided through registration, vitals, and laboratory assessments before meeting with clinicians. For some, it was their first medical encounter in months; for others, it was an opportunity to check lingering symptoms that had gone unexamined. Many residents used the outreach to address longstanding symptoms or obtain their first clinical assessment in months. In addition to direct treatment, we focused on preventive education, helping families understand chronic conditions, medication use, and lifestyle adjustments.
