The Chief Nursing Officer will play a pivotal role in shaping the nursing strategy and operations for our hospital. This executive will establish nursing policies, procedures and quality standards to ensure we deliver the highest level of nursing care. The Chief of Nursing will build and lead a team of talented, compassionate nurses to provide exceptional, patient-centered care.
Job Description
- Minimum of MSN, Doctorate Degree preferred
- Certification – Nursing Management, Leadership & or Administration
- Ability to manage all aspects of a healthcare environment including budgeting, nurse management, hiring, employee training, and data analysis.
- Persuasive leadership and problem-solving skills
- Regulatory proficient
- Ability to create department metrics and conduct department audits
- Provides organizational strategy and oversight for all providers.
- Works collaboratively with administration to develop and oversee systems, objectives and services.
- Participate as a member of the team to achieve business goals, quality outcomes and customer satisfaction.
- Practice within legal, ethical and professional boundaries.
- Establish standards for nursing practice and evaluate department performance.
- Serve as a liaison between nurses and administrators
- To build and nurture strong relationships with all OUMC stakeholders.
- Develop the nursing strategic plan, policies and procedures for the hospital.
- Recruit, hire and oversee training and development for the nursing team.
- Establish and monitor nursing quality and patient safety indicators. Drive continuous improvement.
- Manage nursing budget and resources. Optimize efficiency while ensuring excellent patient care.
- Foster a positive, collaborative, patient-centric culture within the nursing team.
- Keep current with advances in nursing practice. Introduce evidence-based best practices.
- Collaborate closely with physicians, pharmacy and other departments to enable seamless patient care.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and accreditation standards related to nursing.
- Develop and oversee nursing education, professional development and speciality certification programs.
- Serve as an advocate and spokesperson for the nursing profession within the hospital and community.
- And to perform other duties that may be assigned by management from time to time.
Job Requirements
- Master’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration or related field required. Doctorate preferred.
- Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria.
- Minimum 10 years of nursing experience, at least 5 in a senior nursing leadership role.
- Extensive knowledge of nursing best practices, quality standards, regulations and trends.
- Exceptional clinical skills and a deep commitment to compassionate, patient-focused care.
- Strong leadership and team-building skills. Able to inspire and motivate a large nursing team.
- Excellent communicator and relationship builder. Able to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Change champion, able to spearhead new initiatives and drive continuous improvement.
- Effective communication skills with a good command of the English language, both written and oral.
- Excellent customer service skills are necessary, along with the ability to create and maintain effective relationships with external and internal customers.
- Ability to adapt to change and implement change initiatives.
- Must be eloquent and exude confidence.
- Must have required licensure to practice in Nigeria.
